OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE
The Futures of Seafood Oversight Committee has been established as a muti-sectoral forum across seafood and ocean estate users, and administrators/regulators to guide conversation on strategic matters and facilitate coordinated input into the Futures of Seafood study.
The Oversight Committee is tasked to fulfil the following key responsibilities:
- Accelerate the capture of policy and sectoral insights, forecasts and trends;
- Support a ‘forward faster’ approach to knowledge and data collection;
- Offer relevant lived experience and expertise;
- Identify stakeholders (individual, peak, geographical) for more detailed engagement;
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to the study;
- Validate the research portfolio;
- Consider jurisdictional committee insights;
- Offer solutions to study-related barriers including data collection;
- Promote collaborative opportunities for project engagement, outreach and support;
- Monitor progress and performance of the study.

JURISDICTIONAL COMMITTEES
The role of the seven Futures of Seafood Jurisdictional Committees are to bring together a broad spectrum of ocean estate users and stakeholders to facilitate jurisdictional knowledge and data exchange and inputs to the Futures of Seafood Project Team as well as ground truth jurisdictional project outputs.
These Committees are a critical part of the Futures of Seafood Governance structure and are being administered by the joint SIA and BECRC Futures Project Team alongside the project Futures Oversight Committee, the other six jurisdictional committees, project business units for cross cutting issues (data and communications) as well as the work package teams.
The Jurisdictional Committee is tasked to fulfil the following key responsibilities:
